During the year, students have the opportunity to participate in day trips to sites of historical, scientific, cultural and natural interest, linked to the Unit of Inquiry and the topics studied in their class. This is a way to enhance the classroom experience with moments when students can put their "hands on reality": the Egyptian Museum in Turin, rather than the Museum of Science and Technology in Milan or the astronomic museum of Turin, as well as theater for children and participation to events organized in the the Park of Monza are just examples of the opportunities offered to our students. In Spring we organize multi-day trips for students from Grade 5. These experiences help children to build confidence in themselves, sense of autonomy, teamwork and support the development of the attributes as in the Learner Profile. The destinations are the most diverse, from "The House of the Squirrels" in Trentino Alto Adige, to the marvellous Crete, the Asturias in Spain or the Heatree Activity Centre in Devon and the Roman Thermae in Bathe. Besides, in order to help children/students to become responsible members of local, national and global communities, the School promote many social initiatives and projects where the students themselves take an active part in organization, setting up and parents/friends involvement. |
